The reason for my lack of communication is
1. The schedule here is truly crazy. I may have a day or two off a week, but in that time I'm doing laundry, grocery shopping, preparing meals for the next week and oh yea, SLEEPING!
2. I've been SO sick! I'd covet any of your prayers. My poor body had a major melt down a few years ago with Bronchitis and ever since, if I push it too much (which is what this job does), I get Bronchitis again. So, I've actually been out of work and in bed for the past 2 weeks. Real Bummer.
So, let me try and overview the past couple weeks:
I've had some of the sweetest and best people on my past couple of tours. Esp. when I was sick, I had about 30 mama's to my rescue. Meds, tea, advise, etc. So they were super sweet in those times. One of the best compliments came from a sweet man Buddy. When I first introduced himself he told me he would never forget my name bc it's his ex-wife's last name..and he hoped I'd be better than she was. So, at the end of the tour, he came up to me with tears in his eyes and said, "I just wanted to thank you. This week you reminded me of all the great qualities of my ex-wife". SWEET. Those are the moments that make the strain of this job worth it.
In regards to housing... I live with 6 other people, so I feel like I'm in college again (partly bc most of them function like this is a college house..which drives me crazy, so life on the road is good when you have a real bed and not an air matress and your mess is only your mess).Alll that to say, I'm craving some "alone time" or at calm....that won't be until ....well not sure.
Even through the sickness though, I've gotten to see and do a few incredible things: There is a mountain pass/lake here called Eklutna.
Yesterday, I got to go up in a float plane, land on a Glacial lake and do a quick hike and fly back down to "reality".
The famous question this whole summer that has started to set in is, "What are you going to do at the end of the summer?"... And to that I have NO idea how to respond. I'm really not sure...so if you have any ideas... I'm all ears.
Until then...
